Otsego Electric Cooperative has run several hundred miles of fiber-optic wire in our service territory over the past several months. At our peak, we’ve had up to thirty-five crews working on our Fiber-to-the-Home project. We are currently still running main-line fiber in addition to having several splicers working around our system. We’ve begun installing electronics in our communication shelters around our system and we have started wiring the Laurens and New Berlin substation communication shelters. We are also continuing to make the connections needed to get all the other communication shelters up and running soon.

We will be doing drops and provisioning and testing equipment in the Laurens area during November. In addition, we will be testing our billing software to make sure it is functioning correctly.

This is a large project and we appreciate your patience as we get the network infrastructure built and tested. If you are interested in getting service and you have not already done so, please call the office at 607-293-6622 to be put on the waiting list.
